How Laser Tattoo Removal Works ?

Laser tattoo removal works through sending targeted laser pulses through the skin’s outer layers to the tattoo pigment, where they dissolve it. The pigment is broken up into smaller pieces by the laser radiation and the body naturally gets rid of these particles through the lymphatic system. Different laser wavelengths are used to target different colors of pigment; black and dark pigments absorb laser energy more readily and remove faster; for lighter or colored tattoos it could take more sessions.
Consultation with a specialist
Before starting the procedure we advise to have a consultation with our specialist, who will analyse your skin condition and determine the best locations for treatment.
Keep Your Skin Hydrated
Prior to the procedure, it’s critical to keep your skin well hydrated. But avoid applying moisturisers immediately before the procedure, as this may reduce the effectiveness of the laser treatment.
Discontinue Use of Brow Products
Stop using any eyebrow makeup products (pencils, powders, gels) at least 24-48 hours before the procedure to ensure the skin is clean and free of residues that could interfere with laser treatment.
Avoid Make-Up
Avoid using cosmetic products on the tattooed area for 24-48 hours before the procedure to ensure the skin is clean and avoid potential complications
Avoid Sun Exposure
For at least 2-4 weeks before the procedure, it is important to avoid both direct sun exposure and tanning (both natural and artificial). Skin that has been sunburned or tanned may be more susceptible to problems.
Stop Using Specific Skincare Products
At least a week before the treatment, stop using any products that contain acids (such as glycolic or salicylic acid), retinoids, or powerful exfoliants. These may increase the sensitivity of your skin to lasers. Also avoid products containing Vitamin C, as they can increase the skin’s sensitivity to laser treatment.
Avoid taking antibiotics or photosensitising medications
Some medications can increase your skin’s sensitivity to the laser. If you are taking antibiotics or other photosensitising medications, inform your specialist.
Do not apply deodorants or perfumes on the tattooed area
Avoid using any scented products or deodorants on the area that will undergo laser treatment.
Avoid alcohol and caffeine
It is recommended to refrain from consuming alcohol and caffeine for 24 hours before the procedure, as they may affect the healing process and increase the risk of side effects.
Wear loose clothing
Wear loose-fitting clothes to avoid rubbing or irritation of the tattooed area before and after the procedure.
Hydration
Use calming and moisturising cosmetics on the skin. This will improve the procedure’s effectiveness and help keep the moisture level of your skin. It is recommended to use products containing panthenol or allantoin to accelerate the healing process and reduce irritation.
Avoid clear heat treatments
Saunas, hot baths and other treatments that could result in skin overheating should be avoided for a 2 days after the procedure
Avoid the sun
Avoiding sun exposure and using sunscreen with SPF 30+ is critical for at least 4-6 weeks after the procedure to prevent hyperpigmentation or skin damage as the treated skin heals. Also apply sunscreen consistently, even when there is no direct sunlight.
Avoid water contact
Avoid water contact on the tattooed area for 24-48 hours after the procedure to prevent irritation and infection.
Avoid Physical Touching or Scratching
Refrain from touching or scratching the treated eyebrow area, as this can introduce bacteria or cause irritation and slow down the healing process.
Apply cold compresses
If you experience redness or swelling after the procedure, use cold compresses to reduce inflammation.
Avoid exfoliating the skin
Refrain from using mechanical or chemical exfoliants for at least one week after the procedure to prevent skin damage.
Monitor for signs of infection
If you notice signs of infection, such as severe pain, pus, or a fever, contact your doctor immediately.

Number of Sessions Needed

Several factors affect how many sessions are needed to completely remove tattoos:
Pigments that are lighter or more colorful tend to fade more quickly than those that are darker, like blue and black.
In order to completely remove the pigment, larger tattoos can need more treatments.
Since professionally done tattoos are frequently located deeper in the skin, additional treatments may be required.
Due to the pigment’s natural deterioration over time, older tattoos could be simpler to erase.
Because different skin types react differently to laser energy, the type of skin may have an impact on the number of sessions required.
Tattoos may typically be entirely removed, leaving little to no visible remains. However, the result is dependent on a number of variables, including the patient’s skin type, the tattoo’s age, depth, and color and kind of pigment. For full tattoo removal, five to ten sessions are usually needed, spaced four to six weeks apart to allow the skin to heal.

Contraindications for the Procedure

The procedure is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to potential risks to the mother and baby.
Active Infections or Inflammation
The procedure should not be performed on areas with active infections, open wounds, or inflammatory skin conditions in the treatment area.
Recent Tan
If you have recently tanned, whether naturally or artificially, laser tattoo removal is not advised as it increases the risk of skin damage, hyperpigmentation, or hypopigmentation.
Skin Cancer
The procedure is contraindicated in areas where skin cancer is present or has been previously treated.
Dermatological Conditions
Active dermatological conditions like psoriasis, eczema, or dermatitis in the treatment area should be addressed before undergoing the procedure.

Autoimmune Diseases
Certain autoimmune diseases that affect the skin or healing processes may contraindicate the procedure. It’s essential to consult with a healthcare provider to assess the risks.
Blood-Clotting Disorders
Individuals with blood-clotting disorders or those taking anticoagulants should avoid the procedure due to the increased risk of bruising, bleeding, or other complications.
Epilepsy
The procedure may not be suitable for individuals with epilepsy, especially those sensitive to light, as the flashes of light from the laser could potentially trigger seizures.
Uncontrolled Diabetes
People with uncontrolled diabetes should proceed with caution, as they may experience slower healing and a higher risk of complications during the recovery process.
Recent Skin Treatments
If you have recently undergone chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or other aggressive skin treatments, you should wait until the skin has fully healed before considering laser tattoo removal.
Immune System Disorders
Individuals with compromised immune systems may have difficulty healing post-procedure and should consult with a healthcare provider before undergoing treatment.
